Setting Up the Data Logger for a WiFi Connection

  1. Connect the logger antenna to the logger (if there is one)

  2. Plug the data logger into the inverter:

    • Connect the logger to the inverter, ensuring the inverter is powered on with at least DC power.
    • The COM and NET LED lights on the logger should be flashing
    • If the PWR light is solid but the COM and NET lights are off, check the DC voltage coming into the inverter
    • If the logger was ever connected to another inverter, press and hold the RESET button down for 10 seconds
    • If for any reason during the commissioning you get stuck, press and hold the REST button down for 10 seconds
  3. Connect your phone to the local WiFi Network:

    • Open the Wi-Fi settings on your phone and search for new networks.
    • Look for the local WiFi network that the logger will be connected to. Make sure that it is 2.4GHz and not 5GHz
    • Connect your phone to the WiFi network, take note of the password that you used because you will need it
  4. Use the SolisCloud app to configure the logger WiFi settings:

    • Open the SolisCloud app on your phone. Be sure you have logged in to your installer account.
    • Tap Service in the bottom right corner
    • Tap WiFi Configuration
    • Enter the serial number of the data logger or use the scan function to scan the QR code of the logger
    • If you use the scan function please scan from about one foot away. It will not scan if you are too close.
    • Once the serial number is entered, tap Next
    • Tap Configuration by Bluetooth
    • Tap the logger serial number then wait for the page to finish loading
    • Tap Select WiFi
    • Go to the WiFi settings of your phone and verify that you are connected to the correct WiFi network
    • Switch back to SolisCloud and then ensure that the WiFi Name field populates with the same WiFi network name
    • Enter the WiFi network password without any errors
    • Tap Start Configuration
    • Tap Continue or Resume if the logger is already connected
    • Wait about one minute for the logger to connect to the WiFi network
    • If it connects successfully, the message "Distribution Network Success" with a green check mark
    • If it fails, check that the network is 2.4GHz not 5GHz and that the password is correct. If it continues to fail, it is likely a router firewall issue. Please have the logger added under allowed devices to get around the firewall.
  5. Confirm logger WiFi connection:

    • If the setup is successful, the NET light on the logger should go from flashing green to solid green after about a minute to two minutes.
  6. Add the logger to SolisCloud:

    • Go back to the main page of the SolisCloud app
    • Tap the plus sign (+) in the top right corner and then tap Add Plant
    • Create a new plant by filling in all of the required fields
    • Once the plant is created, you will add the logger to the plant. Note: adding the logger will automatically add the inverter(s) that the logger is connected to
    • Tap the three dots in the top-right corner and select Add Device.
    • Use the scanner to scan the QR code on the logger. If the scanner has difficulty, place your hand behind the logger to help it focus, or enter the serial number manually.
  7. Verify the Setup:

    • Go to the Device tab within your plant, then navigate to the Data Logger tab.
    • The data logger should now appear, showing the last reported data
  8. Changing the WiFi network or password in the future
    • Follow the same steps outlined above using the SolisCloud app WiFi Configuration tool to connect to the logger and connect it to the new WiFi network
    • If the password for the WiFi network changes, it will be the like having a new network. Please follow the same steps to reconfigure the logger.
